The Press and Indexed Annuities

Being in the financial planning industry poses many hurdles when trying to explain the benefits of a product that is being slammed in highly read publications like Money Magazine. Money wrote an article in January of this year titled "Indexed Annuities are a Safety Trap". They write about their concerns over the sales practices of insurance agents and how the returns in these annuities are less than stellar. In this episode of Money Matters we cite a study done by Geoffrey VanderPal, D.B.A, CFP, CLU, CFS, RFC; Jack Marrion; and David F. Babbel, Phd where they take a closer look at the returns of indexed annuities. The results may surprise the readers and Lisa Gibbs of Money Magazine.
